Toolbox Tuesday – Long and Short Square Click Sets

Toolbox Tuesday – Long and Short Square Click Sets

The newest kids on the block – the Long and Short Square Click Sets – offer a fresh take on addi’s Click System. Rather than the traditional round needle barrel, the Square Click Sets feature barrels with a square cross-section. This shape provides a flatter gripping surface, which has several benefits.

Because of the flat sides, knitters are able to hold the needles more loosely. This relaxed grip leads to reduced pain and stress in the hands, wrists, and forearms, allowing folks to knit more enjoyably, and for longer periods of time, which is fabulous for anyone suffering with conditions such as arthritis or repetitive stress syndrome. We’ve heard from countless knitters who have returned to their craft after putting needles down due to discomfort.

Many knitters also report that their stitches and gauge are much more consistent with the Square needles, resulting in better stitch definition, particularly in textured stitch patterns, as well as better fitting finished projects. And a final perk – the needles don’t roll away from you when you set them down!

The addi Square needle line features softened corners and a subtle texture on the flat sides, offering a comfortable grip with less slip. The point is addi’s popular “Rocket” sharp point, while the finish is their slick “Turbo” plating. The Long Square Click Set features tips approximately 5.5″ long while the Short Square Click Set has tips approximately 3.5″ long.

Both sets have one pair each of whole sizes US 4 through US 11, a connector bar, a pair of addiGrips, and a heavy canvas case with a zippered pocket on the back. The Long Square Click Set has one cord each to create a 24”, 32”, and 40” circular. The Short Square Click Set has one cord each to create a 16”, 20”, 24”, 32”, and 40” circular. Please note – these sets do not come with a needle gauge; the sizes are etched into each needles tip.

The Short set is great hats, sweater sleeves, or other items with a smaller circumference. The Long set is great for knitting just about anything, and provides a bit more tip to hold.

The addi Click system is designed for ease of use, so changing tips is simple; just insert the cord into the tip of your choice, and twist. You’ll feel a ‘click’ which lets you know the connection is secure. And since the connection is standard across all addi Click products, they are all completely interchangeable!

These sets, and all addi products, are covered by addi’s Lifetime Guarantee to be free from defects. Should you find any problems with your set, just let us know and we’ll provide a replacement at no cost. Find all of the addi Click Sets here.

The Click sets, and all addi products, are always 20% off on our site – no coupon code needed! And all domestic orders ship for free with no minimum purchase, and international orders over $100US also ship for free!

Please note – the Long Square Click Sets are temporarily backordered at the factory in Germany. We hope for more at the end of the month.

2021 Holiday Shipping Deadlines

2021 Holiday Shipping Deadlines

Are you sending out gifts this year? I know I am. Since I wont be able to visit friends and family in person this year, I’ll be sending out gifts in hopes that they’ll arrive in time for the big day(s). The following is a list of holiday shipping deadlines that the United States Postal Service estimates you need to ship by this year. Please note: these are estimates, not guarantees!

  • First Class Package: Ship by December 17th
  • Priority Mail: Ship by December 18th
  • Priority Mail Express: Ship by December 23rd
  • First Class Package International and Priority Mail International: Ship by November 29th for Africa, Central America, and South America—and by December 6th for the rest of the world
  • Priority Mail Express International: Ship by December 6th for Africa, Central America, and South America—and by December 13th for the rest of the world
  • Shipping to/from Hawaii, Alaska, or a Military address? Check out all the deadlines here.

During the week, most orders ship the day after they are placed. If they are placed before about 9am Pacific time, they usually go out the same day they are placed. Orders placed over the weekend are shipped out on the following Monday.

We do our very best to keep all items in stock and ready to ship. However, there are always some items that are backordered at any given time. We work very hard to keep the website updated with notes on how long a backordered item should take to return to stock. When selecting items, you’ll see a note just above the Add to Cart button that tells you an item’s status. If it’s out of stock, you’ll also see a note letting you know when we expect a new supply.

I know that I’ve always been a last minute shopper type – I’m always that person running around the day before a holiday to find gifts for everyone. But not this year! I’ve been planning for months to be sure I place orders early enough to ship and arrive on time.

We encourage you to do the same! We always love playing a part in our customers’ gift-giving plans, and we hope we can work together to ensure all packages end up just where they need to be, with plenty of time to spare.

Toolbox Tuesday – Rocket Click Sets

Toolbox Tuesday – Long and Short Rocket Click Sets

The addi Rocket Click Sets feature addi’s well-loved sharp “Rocket” point along with the “Turbo” finish, which makes for a super speedy knitting experience. The only difference in the sets is the length of the tips – the Long at 5.5″ and the Short at 3.5″.

Both sets contain one pair each of whole sizes US 4 through US 11, a connector bar for creating longer cord lengths or putting a cord on hold, a needle/stitch gauge, plus a set of addiGrips that make changing your tips out even easier. The Long sets include one cord each to create a 24″, 32″, and 40″ circular, while the Short sets include one cord each to create a 16″, 20″, 24″, 32″, and 40″ circular.

Which will work best for you? The Short set is great for folks who knit a lot of hats, sweater sleeves, or other items with a smaller circumference.

What’s New – Mulberry Tussah

What’s New – Hand Maiden Mulberry Tussah!

We recently received a huge shipment of Hand Maiden’s Swiss Mountain Silk Mulberry Tussah, a truly unique yarn. It’s made up of two plies – one in Mulberry Silk and the other in Tussah Silk. Because each type of silk takes the dye differently, there’s a beautiful dance in how the light shifts across the colors.

You’ll find all of silk’s inherent shine and drape in this yarn, and at a DK/worsted weight, it’s also got a delightful heft, perfect for the most luxurious shawls and scarves, and even tops and sweaters. Each 100g skein has 200m, and a suggested needle size of US 6 (4mm) for a gauge of 20sts per 4″ (10cm). You can find the Swiss Mountain Silk Mulberry Tussah here.

Below, you’ll see the Mulberry Tussah used in the Vitis Scarf by Twitchy Hands. It uses a single skein; the original photo is in the colorway Violetta.

As always, all domestic orders ship for free, as do international orders of $100US or more.

Important Shipping Information

Important Shipping Information

We’re getting closer and closer to the busiest time of the year for shipping carriers, so I wanted to take some time to put together important shipping information and some updates.

As we all noticed last year, the COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on deliveries for all carriers during the holidays and beyond. Not only were there unprecedented worker shortages due to outbreaks, but there was also an overall increase in the volume of packages being shipped as folks chose to shop from home. As a result, shipping times increased up to several weeks, and the number of lost packages also increased.

We exclusively use the United States Postal Service to ship all of our packages. Typically First Class packages take 3-5 days for delivery and Priority packages take 2-3 days. However, as we head into November and beyond, it will not be unusual for First Class packages to take up to a full week; Priority packages should not see a delay, though the USPS will make a public announcement if that changes. International First Class packages usually take 1-2 weeks for delivery; moving toward the end of the year, we can expect that it may take a full 3-4 weeks for packages to arrive at some destinations.

While we always get packages out the day after an order is placed (or on Monday if an order is placed over the weekend), there is nothing we can do to speed a package along to its destination once it’s in the hands of the USPS. Keeping this in mind, we encourage our customers to purchase holiday gifts early in anticipation of slower shipping times.

We do guarantee delivery for all domestic packages; if your order is lost within the US postal system, we will re-ship your package or refund your purchase. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to offer the same delivery guarantee for any international packages at this time, though we will of course do our best to track down lost shipments.

As a company, we do not offer any guarantees that packages will be delivered by a certain date. However, the USPS does offer guaranteed delivery dates for their Priority and Express services. If you choose either of these services, we can guarantee that we’ll get your package to the USPS according to our usual order processing schedule (next day, or Monday for weekend orders). And of course for any packages that miss their deadlines, we are happy to work with the USPS to get a refund for your shipping costs.

You can find complete details of our Shipping Policy here. We look forward to helping you all have a joyous holiday season!

Toolbox Tuesday – Turbo Click Set

The holiday and gifting seasons are quickly approaching, so I’d like to feature some of our most popular gift items over the next few weeks. First up is the Turbo Click Set.

Meet The Team Monday!

Meet The Team Monday!

As a (very) small business, we know that many customers appreciate getting to know the people behind the company. With that in mind, we’re going to start a semi-regular series of posts to introduce ourselves. To start – Hi! My name is Keri, and I’m the owner of Twitchy Hands Creative, Inc. Let me tell you about my history with fiber arts!

I’ve been a life-long fiber enthusiast. I’m not sure how I was introduced to yarn and fabric, but some of my earliest memories are of hoarding scraps of fabric for sewing doll clothes and making elaborately braided friendship bracelets of brightly colored yarns. At 11, I taught myself how to crochet from a mid-60s era McCall’s magazine I found at my great-aunts house, and at 14, I taught myself how to knit from a late-70s era Good Housekeeping book. I just couldn’t get enough of playing with yarn!

In high school, I would sew patches on all my jackets, bookbags, and pants, and make fun skirts and shirts out of t-shirts from thrift stores. I made endless scarves and hats for friends, and finally learned how to use a floor loom, which seemed like the pinnacle of fiber arts to me at the time!

In college, as an archaeology major, I let my interest in fiber arts guide my studies of material cultures throughout human civilizations. I would read books and articles about various cloth and basket weaving traditions around the world, about the huge variety of animal and plant fibers and their particular uses, about how developing fiber technologies contributed to a society’s progress.

And finally, after college, I made a small income for myself selling hats, scarves, mitts, and other accessories at my town’s artisans’ market on weekends. I also started designing and publishing patterns. Eventually, I was put in touch with Bob and Nancy, the previous owners of the company. They needed some help running addi Needle Shop and Colorsong Yarn, and I had the perfect background for the job. Eventually, they retired and I took over the business.

These days, I don’t have as much time as I’d like to play with my ever-expanding stash, but I’m hoping that as my young kiddos get a bit older, I’ll have more opportunities to sit down with yarn and needles or hooks.

What about you – how did you get into fiber arts?
